Bracken Choir take part in State Centenary Opening Ceremony!
Bracken ETNS Choir is privileged to be chosen as the only choir to represent all of Co. Dublin in the Launch of Ireland 2016 State Centenary Programme which opens the Ireland 2016 Centenary Programme.
Thirteen children from the Choir will represent both Bracken ETNS and the county of Dublin by performing as part of the 32 County Choir at the Convention Centre on Friday, 1st January 2016.
This landmark, historic event will be hosted by Minister Heather Humphreys T.D. and performed before an audience of over 2,000 invited guests. It will be recorded by RTÉ for national broadcast.
2016 will mark the centenary of the 1916 Easter Rising, a key moment on Ireland’s path to independence. The Government has launched a wide-ranging and ambitious national commemorative programme embracing an extensive programme of events over the year. The aim is to remember 1916, to reflect on the Republic 100 years on, and to re-imagine our future. Children and young people play a central role in the Ireland 2016 Centenary Programme. A 32-County Choir will play a central role in this event.
We wish the children the very best of luck on this occasion which we’re sure will be remembered for the rest of their lives!
Bracken ETNS will have many events to commemorate the events of 1916. Keep an eye and ear out to learn more over the coming weeks!

Bracken ETNS is delighted to announce that it has been awarded the Yellow Flag in recognition of its commitment to supporting inclusion and celebrating diversity.
The Yellow Flag Programme provides a practical series of 8 steps that brings issues of interculturalism, equality and diversity into the whole-school programme and allows schools to apply them to the day to day running of the school. It works with students, staff, management, parents and wider community groups so that issues of diversity and equality are not merely seen as “school subjects” but can be understood and taken outside the school setting into everyone’s personal lives.
On completion of these steps, and being assessed externally, our school was awarded its “Yellow Flag” in recognition of its work in promoting diversity and inclusion.
So…..without further ado….
We would like to invite all parents to attend our Yellow Flag Raising Ceremony this Friday, 17th April @ 11a.m.
Please encourage your child to wear something YELLOW on the day in order to mark the occasion! We look forward to seeing you!!!
Check out the report on the day we picked up the flag!
